The Science of Improvement
In a new article in The Journal of American Medical Association, Don Berwick, Chief Executive of the IHI, argues for smoother collaboration between “2 great streams of endeavor” that he sees as “often in unhappy tension” – academicians advancing medicine through formal clinical trials, and frontline caregivers in the quality movement who judiciously adjust research methods to get results.
