Listen to an audio recording of the Author in the Room call on preventing falls

In one of the most widely attended Author in the Room calls ever in the joint IHI and JAMA audio series, gerontology pioneer and MacArthur Foundation Fellow, Dr. Mary Tinetti, of the Yale University School of Medicine, shared her newest findings on preventing falls among the elderly. Feedback from E Health Insider Live 2009

Some 1,300 people converged on The ICC in Birmingham for E-Health Insider Live ’09. The chair of Dr Foster Intelligence, Tim Kelsey, was the first keynote speaker at E-Health Insider Live ’09. In his speech, he called for sharing information in the NHS to be made mandatory – particularly for primary care trusts. Podcasts from the Dignity Matters Conference

At the Dignity Matters conference in November Sir Michael Parkinson chatted with Barbara Pointon, Barbara Dearnley and Amanda Waring - this was filmed and is now available as a podcast. Phil Hope the minister for care services also filmed an introduction talking about his commitment to the dignity campaign. At the end of last year 3 podcasts were filmed in Leeds with the 2008 winners of the Health and Social Care award for Dignity, the topics for these are commitment from top to bottom and explains the role of the councils scrutiny committee in ensuring dignity is a priority social marketing - how innovative approaches are reaching the people of Leeds dignity audits - including audits in care homes
Look out for these on the dignity website, they are expected to be published in the next week or two.

Sarah Fraser Podcasts Now Available Online

Sarah Fraser has developed two series of podcasts which you can now download direct to your PC. Series 1: “In conversation with…” is a 10 minute podcast featuring a diverse range of individuals sharing their experiences, wisdom, guidance and thoughts on topics concerning quality improvement, patient safety, personal and organisational transformation, leadership and the spread of good practice. Series 2: Helping individuals do better - these short descriptions provide you with an introduction, possibly a reminder of what you'd forgotten and a prompt to try them out next time you need to work with others in your organisation. Perhaps they will also give you some hints to seek ways to tweak your own behaviour. Listen to the podcasts here.

Two more resources from Sarah Fraser

Sarah has kindly told me about two resources she has put together. The first is a blog where she reviews relevant books. On there now are Time Traps by Todd Duncan and Crucial Conversations by Patterson, Grenny, Mcmillan & Switzler. The second resource is a series of podcasts which are currently available on iTunes but will soon be available to download from Sarah's new website (I will post a link to this when it is up and running). These include: 'In conversation with' Diane Stewart from PBGH, California on the challenges of spread measures and Kate Silvester, international expert on Lean Thinking in Healthcare. A third podcast is on 'Techniques for helping individuals'.
