HealthCom’10 to take place in France

The twelth International Conference on e-Health networking, application and services, HealthCom ’10, will be held in Lyon, France at the beginning of July.
The conference aims to bring together clinicians, hospital administrators, IT professionals, researchers, healthcare system suppliers and consultants from across the world to collaborate, discuss health IT solutions and exchange ideas.
The conference, which will run from 1-3 July 2010, will provide a forum for discussions on e-Health projects supported by world bodies such as ITU, WHO and the EU, including FP6 and FP7 European projects. Click here for further information.

Feedback from E Health Insider Live 2009

Some 1,300 people converged on The ICC in Birmingham for E-Health Insider Live ’09. The chair of Dr Foster Intelligence, Tim Kelsey, was the first keynote speaker at E-Health Insider Live ’09. In his speech, he called for sharing information in the NHS to be made mandatory – particularly for primary care trusts. HR in practice: Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust gets staff plugged into MP3 players for training

The players look like iPod Nanos and staff can hook them up to their laptop or a hospital computer through a USB cable. The computers, in turn, link to the organisational development department of the trust.
Staff can then listen through headphones to the training materials and use the navigation on the device to move on to the next section, or can watch mini-documentaries on the computer that back up the listening material. This allows staff learn at times that are convenient to them and their employer, and the organisation saves thousands of hours, as staff do not need to take time out to train other staff, thus the organisation saves money by ensuring working hours are optimised.
