CQC outlines quality approach for health and social care

The Care Quality Commission has published a report detailing how it plans to assess the provision and commissioning of health and adult social care in its first year. Building on the work of previous regulators, the commission is introducing an approach that assesses quality across health and social care as it moves towards a single registration system for providers of care in both sectors in 2010. The approach features both periodic and special reviews and draws attention to how the sectors of health, mental health and adult social care work together. There will also be indicators that measure the outcomes for people and their experience of care.

Knowing is not enough - Report from IHI

In the current climate of global economic change that influences how health care organisations set priorities and do their work, it is health care leaders and educators who must act decisively for better health, better care, and better learning. The authors of this report identify five strategies for addressing challenges and reshaping health care, and discuss competencies that offer a new bridge between health care operations and graduate medical education. Small Changes, Big Difference - annual report on improvement activity across Yorkshire and the Humber

In September 2007, the Board of the Strategic Health Authority adopted three objectives in support of improvement and innovation. These were to ensure the adoption of best improvement practice in support of the key Operating Framework priorities, to foster a culture of innovation and improvement and to build capacity and capability for improvement. This is a report of the work that has been done across Yorkshire and the Humber, supported by the SHA, in response to these objectives.
