Following successes in the original 16 integrated care pilots, the programme has been expanded to encourage and facilitate the sharing of knowledge among a wider range of stakeholders and identify further initiatives. The DH is inviting potential participants to submit their completed self-assessment forms. Further guidance on the submission process is available from the DH website.

Integrated Working in Health and Social Care - Second New Ways of Working Conference
The aim of this conference is to showcase examples of innovative new ways or new types of working and look at where health and social care are making a difference to service users by working in partnership. New Pilots of Integrated Care
Following the publication of the NHS Next Stage Review and Primary and Community Care Strategy, the Department of Health has announced plans for new pilots of integrated care. Innovative clinicians will be invited to put forward proposals for pilots that involve working more collaboratively across primary, community and secondary care, and health and social care boundaries. The DH will be looking at ways in which PCTs can commission more integrated services and deliver more seamless, patient-centred care. For more information, email: integratedcare@dh.gsi.gov.uk.

NHS Alliance Sets Out Integrated Care Framework
The NHS Alliance has set out a proposed framework for the new integrated care pilots announced in Lord Darzi's next stage review. Along with goals such as clinical quality and financial accountability, it recommends putting an emphasis on prevention and reduction of ill-health; promoting collaboration across primary, community and secondary care boundaries, and across health and social care boundaries; and requiring that proposals should cover the whole disease spectrum.
